Ever wonder why there are literally hundreds of publications for women about bridal dresses, engagement rings, wedding plans, and honeymoons and virtually no publications for men regarding marriage (unless it‘s reasons why they shouldn‘t get married like nomarriage.com or menarebetterthanwomen.com)? The answer is quite simple: in general, women are the “winners” of marriage. This is why women share so much excitement about the institution of marriage. Entire movies are made just for women to get a jolt of euphoria about the thought of marrying the perfect guy. Women can sit with their friends and talk about topics related to marriage for literally hours on end. I have never seen men talk about marriage at great length, unless they’re compiling a list of reasons of why not to get married.

Much in the same way that women don’t need to search high and low for someone to have sex with them, men don’t need to search high and low for someone to take half of everything that is theirs. Don’t believe me? Go to a bar and start asking men if they can come back to your apartment because you really need to have sex. If you have to ask more than three of them, you’re either a.) at a gay bar, or b.) overweight.

It shouldn’t take more than visiting a magazine rack or observing the girl:guy ratio of people renting the latest chick-flick from Blockbuster to confirm that women are the winners in marriage.

That’s not to say that men don’t win too. As you read in the economics of marriage, men certainly perceive themselves to be winning at least a little bit, otherwise they wouldn’t be doing it. Women, on the other hand, are winning a lot.
