Men who value their time (read: most men who aren’t stupid or poor, who you wouldn’t consider marrying anyway) have a distaste for dealing with menial tasks. Examples of this include booking hotels and airfare, sending out birthday cards to family members, preparing dinner, tidying up the house, taking out the dog… the list goes on and on. Men detest doing these simply because it is a waste of their time. Instead of spending fifteen minutes picking out the perfect birthday card, they could be developing their business or building a relationship that can come in handy someday. Many men who might have spent most of their 20’s resisting marriage eventually get to a point where they wouldn’t mind having someone around to take care of pesky tasks. If you want to impress a man and help him realize your value as a wife, take the initiative to lighten his to-do list by completing some annoying tasks. Don’t wait around for him to ask. Take the initiative and do it. Remember, marriage isn’t a handout. It requires work.

This particular area of your value as a potential wife can range from nearly meaningless to being the most important thing you contribute to the relationship; it all depends on the man. It is true that men will marry a girl for her friendship. Truthfully, marriages built on this foundation are often the happiest. Some men may not be looking for a wife who doubles as a friend, but it can’t hurt to make it clear that you are capable of fulfilling such a role. Take interest in the things that are important to a man. Show him that you have things in common. Doing so will increase his chances of marrying you.

To summarize these three points, think of it this way: men want to marry a girl not all too different than a cool secretary that they can have sex with. I know that’s a weird way of putting it, but it’s true! Even the most anti-marriage men in society will think twice about their position on marriage when a friendly secretary who he gets to have sex with is introduced to his life.
